A TASTE OF CLIMATE CHANGE

One of the most pressing issues today is the effect of Global warming called "Climate change".

In the past, the awareness of global warming and its effects were not widely strewn all over the world. The aim to inform people regarding its adverse effects was deficient. If not, given only minimal attention despite life threatening forecasted consequences.

What is Global warming?

-It is the rise of the Earth’s temperature due to continuous emission of Carbon dioxide from the factories, Fuel combustion from vehicles, and other chemicals that pollute the air. Voluminous amount of carbon dioxide (co2) in the atmosphere can cause thinning to our primary screen to the sun’s rays and heat the “Ozone layer”. In the event when a hole is born in the ozone, more heat will penetrate the earth, and with an atmosphere crammed with pollutants like co2, The heat remains inside. In this circumstance, climate Change takes place…Natural Calamities such as Earthquakes, hurricanes, and typhoons emanate frequently with more power and can cause titanic devastation.

EFFECTS

-A magnitude 9.0 Earthquake hit the country of japan in March 11, 2010. With this intensity, it triggered a rise in the ocean water to the shore (Tsunami) up to 100 ft. high that resulted to 19,000 casualties, washed out cities and Billions worth of damages.

-In December 16, 2011, an unfortunate event transpired in the cities of Cagayan de oro and Iligan in the Philippines. A Flashflood of 20’ in height ravaged through and sunk the badly hit areas of Tibasak, Balulang & Cala-Cala leaving only about 2% of the houses in the communities. Claiming thousands of lives and caused Billions of damages throughout the cities affected.

People all over the world dropped their jaws as they witnessed the destruction left by the earthquake and the typhoon “Sendong” over the television. The sight of survivors weeping for their lost loved ones, indescribable faces of the victims who were terribly feeling various emotions of fear, anxiety and hopelessness mushroomed over the media and the internet. Questions lavished through the minds of the citizens asking what happened, What caused and who’s responsible for the untoward incident? Some Government officials pointed fingers to their rivals for the blame and Hopeless people blaming/questioning God for their misery was prevalent at the height of the tension. Subsequently, few questions surfaced to my mind, was their really a single person to be held responsible for the misfortune? Is it right to blame God? What caused the mishaps?

A father weeping over his dead daughter's body found a couple of hundred meters away from their area.

Then I recollected what I learned and was warned about when I was young -CLIMATE CHANGE. The answer to the questions is actually not to find for; it was present and already given even prior to the catastrophes. Climate change is already here! We are all living it now! It has already shown us the weight of a pigment of its power and people will continuously experience the same or worse, if we do not work to aid the Earth. However, still we have a chance to avert the effects of this phenomenon.

What can we do?

It is virtually impossible for us to clean the earth instantaneously. In few years nevertheless, if we work to discipline ourselves to keep the nature clean we will somehow mar the amplification of pollution and climate change correspondingly.

DISCIPLINE, a plain and simple word that carry the antidote to the poisoned world we live in. Apathy in the past caused the effects we suffer today, Let us all open our eyes, get involved and move to heal the earth. Make it a better place for us and for our future residents…Our Children. We cannot blame anybody for the mishaps because we are all accountable for the tragic incidents. For no one, even the most powerful person cannot mend the earth alone. We need to act on this together! It is about time we revert what we consumed and sow new seeds for tomorrow. Let us not wait for another “Sendong”, or a more forceful earthquake or a hurricane to happen again!

It is never too late but let us have no second to waste…
